Suffering With Dry Eyes, We’ve Got You Covered!

“Dry eyes” is a medical condition that happens when your eyes lose out on all their moisture and becomes dry. This can happen due to a variety of reasons, some of which are:

v  Less sleep – Just like our other parts of the body, our eyes need rest too. So, when you sleep less, the eyes get overburdened, they lose moisture after hours of working with no rest, and hence becomes dry.

v  Dry Climate/Heaters – Our eyes are the only part of the body that doesn’t get moisture from the water present inside our body. So, when exposed to dry climates or higher temperatures, our eyes often get dry as the moisture present in them evaporates leaving them dry.

v  Prolonged screen exposure – After looking at the screen for hours at a stretch, our eyes due to the radiations coming out from the device lose moisture which makes our eyes dry.

v  Prolonged use of contact lenses – Contact lenses act as a barrier between the outside environment and eyes thus preventing the moisture recharge of the eyes. And so they become dry after prolonged use of lenses.

As a direct effect of dry eyes, you may experience heaviness in the eyes, burning sensation, sensitivity, fatigue, soreness, red eyes, and even blurred vision in some cases. In order to replenish the moisture, the tears start coming out to prevent dryness and so watery eyes are a clear indication of dry eyes. Ironical!

They can be used for a very short span of time as they expire quite soon and using them then can cause more harm than good. These drops work by creating a layer of moisture on the eyes and thereby rehydrating them.

Besides affecting your skin and causing mild acne, not removing makeup before going to sleep can take a toll on your eyes too. In case the make-up gets clogged in the tear glands or sticks to the lashes or the eyelids, there are high chances of it entering the eyes and causing dry eyes or allergies. It can also pollute the membrane which will lead to a cloudy vision and moisture release. So, wipe all make-up traces with a clean cotton cloth softly before bedtime and use a cleanser or a face wash to clean the area, especially, around the eyes.
